iPhone and Gmail Can Live in Harmony!

iphone.jpg

After setting up my email on my iPhone I was initially pretty disappointed with the email functions available. I am an avid Gmail user and had hoped I would simply sign with my iPhone and be mailing away, this was not the case. After many trials and tribulations I have found a way to make my iPhone and Gmail cooperate with each other. I feel I would be in violation of my civil duty if I did not pass this information on to other frustrated iPhone users.

Halo 3 Is Here

halo3.jpg

Alright folks, Halo 3 is officially out and the reviews are flying like mad. I have been somewhat disappointed with most reviewers; they offer up high scores but don’t make the game sound appealing. I haven’t had the opportunity to complete the game, but my first impression leaves me wanting more.

The Halo story is supposed to be fairly good, and before I dive completely into the third chapter, I found a few summary videos the refresh my memory. These two cover the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved.

99% Whole wheat, 1% Rat feces

Warning - Rat Feces

I am not much of a breakfast person. I rarely sit down for a meal earlier than 11:00AM. Then I get my cholesterol results back from the doctor.. yikes! In attempts to get my skyrocketed cholesterol under control, I started eating oatmeal for breakfast (this is just one of the many things I am doing to lower my cholesterol, so no flames please).

I found out that oatmeal just does not sit well with me, so I decided to have a slice of toast with it. I could also use the bread for sandwiches at lunch. I journeyed over to the nearest grocery store and picked up the goods. I have had Ozarks Hearth bread before and remembered liking it, so I purchased a loaf.

Programming Dilemmas

As everyone knows the video game industry is not all fat guys and sound effects.

[ugh] I don’t know what confuses/infuriates me more. Why would the school use their own students to do a commercial? And, If they are not students, why would hire the worst actors that ever graced a stage. Losers.

Popular science has posted a list on the hard science behind game programming including:

- Utilizing complex processor architecture

- Rendering realistic water

- Faces

- AI…etc

I find this stuff fascinating. I don’t want to make games. I just want to play and complain about their crappy (insert one of the above) on my blog.

Education From Bioshock

bioshockcover.jpg

I finished Bioshock this weekend. I say ‘finished’ as opposed to ‘beating’ as Bioshock is more like a good novel than a competative game. I really can’t say enough about Bioshock in the sense of quality as entertainment. Those of you who do not feel compelled to play through the game should at least follow this link to the plot analysis, as the story is very, very good.

iPhone Installer: Installer.App

iphoneinterface.jpg

After watching this week’s episode of Diggnation, I was turned onto an application to “hack” the iPhone called installer.app. This little application is pretty cool! It’s easy to install, and super easy to use. Once the software is installed on your iPhone it will inform you anytime there is a new application available. The installer allows iPhone users to download new applications using the Wi-Fi or Edge connection of the iPhone.

The Orange Box

Nothing sells a game more than good marketing coupled with a strong reputation for good games. Valve knows this, as their advertising campaign for Team Fortress 2 only makes me want the game more. Take a look:
