Programming Dilemmas
As everyone knows the video game industry is not all fat guys and sound effects.
[ugh] I don’t know what confuses/infuriates me more. Why would the school use their own students to do a commercial? And, If they are not students, why would hire the worst actors that ever graced a stage. Losers.

Popular science has posted a list on the hard science behind game programming including:
- Utilizing complex processor architecture
- Rendering realistic water
- Faces
- AI…etc
I find this stuff fascinating. I don’t want to make games. I just want to play and complain about their crappy (insert one of the above) on my blog.

As a student majoring in Computer Scienece (I am in my freshman year now), it makes me angry that a commercial like this tries to make “making video games” look so easy as just sitting around and playing a game. There is a lot more to it.

Yeah, that’s total BS. I have done some programming for a game or two in my life and it is not as easy as “let’s add that sound effect here, tee hee”.
In fact, after making my (probably) last game, I gave it up. It’s all work and hardly any fun. Then I went on to BETA testing, which also sucks… why would I want to play buggy games?
I now realize that games are best left for entertainment value. Maybe someday, if a talented and fun group of people would like me to assist with game creation, I will get back into it. Until then, I’m happy with a great game, a few beers, and some m4d p0wn skillz (haha)
