Football season is ready to kick off this Thursday and NFL.com is buzzing with all the latest stories. One involve last year’s Superbowl loser (what an EPIC game) and another who I consider the best quarterback of this generation, Peyton Manning. Yeah, the guy in the commercials.
Meantime, my childhood football hero, Brett Favre, decided to retire, then unretire, and get traded to…the Jets… (more…)

Everybody uses cards these days to pay for their lunch, gas, and whatnot. Well, I am part of a dying breed that still prefers to pay the old-fashioned way; cold, hard cash. Yes, I do utilize modern monetary means, however, I found that I actually save money when I only have an allowance of cash for the week. I think it’s part of the “casino theory”; if you pay with cash, then you get to see the cash leaving. So I pay with cash. Now I get to carry around a fat wallet and a pocket full of loose change. Hooray…
I really do not like stuff in my pockets. I only carry what very few keys I need. I have the slimmest wallet possible (being broke helps), and I keep my coins in one of my desk organizer’s trays. Not having to carry around coins was nice, but there is problem. If you pay cash for everything, the coins multiply. I needed a way to pay with coins, but carry as little as possible. I think I found the perfect combo if you are only going to be making one purchase (such as lunch or a candy bar.)
Trembling with anticipation? The combo is as follows: (more…)

Gotta song stuck in your head? Need to hear it NOW but you aren’t on your home computer and your mp3 player was forgotten at home? Go to Sonza and get that noise out of your head.
Great place to go to find a specific song now. Perhaps the coolest feature is that you can link to a specific song, so if I wanted to send a song to someone, I can link to it directly rather than hunt it down on YouTube, etc. I haven’t been able to use it in Opera very well, and I think its still in Beta, as it locks up in Firefox and IE7 every so often, but hey, you want to listen to a lot more music, then go to Pandora.
So I went and played paintball for the first time this past weekend; talk about a rush. Originally, I didn’t know how much fun I would have with it, as most people who are “in” to it are pretty hardcore. Turns out it’s really all about fun. I managed some pretty inspiring feats of dexterity and luck, while at the same time had a great time. (more…)

A long time ago, when I was in grade school, I planted an Ash tree. I’ve heard it said that Odin created the first man out of an Ash and the first woman out of an Elm. Well, I’m here to return the favor big guy, buy replacing your Ash tree you had to use.
He’s a beauty, being around seven feet tall now with a four-to-five inch diameter trunk. It’s hard to believe that he was mowed over twice, once by my unattentive ash, and a second by my older brother. Its strange, when I planted the it, I went out every day for about a two weeks and watered it, just like the instructions said. After I mowed it down, I really felt like I had cracked the egg they give you in those childraising classes. I monitered him and he started to grow again, only to be chopped again. It seemed hopeless, but here he is, about eighteen years later, and I am beaming. (more…)

Do you ever find yourself having a “pity party” about the most mundane of life’s tasks? “Ahh man I have to go to the grocery store” or “I don’t want to change the babies diaper” or “Man but butt itches again.” Well, it is time to end it. I came across the following video and I realized how lucky most of us truly are! The woman in this video proves that if more people would spend less time in self-pity and more time acutally doing, the world would be a better place. Hope you are as motivated as I was by this clip.

I was eating at Steak and Shake the other day and observed a little boy about three trying to get some ketchup out of the Heinz 57 Ketchup bottle. After watching his son try and try to lather his fries, his Dad stepped in and took over. After ten or so violent shakes from the burly dad, ketchup finally came out of the bottle and the little boy was happy. Seeing this incident made me realize that not everyone is privy to the secret of the “57″ on a Heinz 57 bottle.
The 57 imprinted on the class bottles is not just there for decoration purposes; with a gentle tap using the palm of your hand directly on the 57 you will be blessed with a calm and controlled flow of red goodness. Take this trick and pass it on and maybe one day you can help your son come to know the secret of “57.”
You can also do this when using the squeeze bottle, if you are dumb.

Brainiac puts a zany and humorous twist on so called “science experiments.” I’ve seen some interesting things, and it never fails to invoke a chuckle with its obsurdity. Lets take a look:
The melodramatic voice, the exaggerated focus, the British accent, it all adds up to be interesting and entertaining. The next time you are in desparate need of amusing, sublime science, tune into Brainiac: Science Abuse. (more…)
