With my local prerelease tournament came a long day of Magic the Gathering. Nearly a case of boosters were opened and, aside from a stack of twelve packs that weren’t opened at the store, no priceless treasures were found. What we did find was a very fun format. With participation growing, I [...]
Ever since Magic 2010 made it’s appearance, I’ve been tinkering with my current favorite deck, Jund Mana Ramp. The loss of Treetop Village concerned me as it was one of the decks most surprising tools. Well, I hadn’t had a chance to try it out, as I’ve been drafting mostly, but finally a [...]
I placed third at my local M10 prerelease tournament. Magic 2010 is a very exciting set for a Limited format environment. I played a black red deck with only a few bombs, and after four rounds of meticulous play, my deck finally quit on me in the top four; being one sleeve short [...]
Recent Extended event at my MTG Stomping Grounds yielded spectacular results utilizing Ranger of Eos.
Now, anybody who cracked a booster of Shards of Alara and saw this guy and Wild Nacatl didn’t need a large neon sign to tell them that he would be fantastic in an Extended format Zoo build; Ranger Zoo is nothing [...]
I don’t play in a majorly developed metagame. This is ok with me, as it allows me to play cards that I want to play with for fun without really risking a lot. In my metagame, I usually have to watch out for atypical Bant or Esper varients, with Standard mainstays 5-Color Control [...]
Recently, Sean McKeown wrote about a variety of decks utilizing cards in Alara Reborn. I was most interested in his uses of Bloodbraid Elf in different archtypes. After looking at his Gruul version, a friend of mine and I tweaked around and came up with a more Jund version. Behold!
"Hastey Jund"Lands (16)4 [...]

Bant is an excellent Shard. It has access to the best removal and some of the best card drawing in the current Standard environment. Path to Exile and Oblivion Ring coupled with Noble Hierarch and Mulldrifter felt almost illegal together in the same deck.
I played in another Friday Night Magic even though I [...]
I took a Jund Mana Ramp variant to FNM this past Friday and won first, securing my FNM Merrow Reejerey.
While I had fun playing the deck, I know it needs some fine tuning. I wanted to utilize Jund’s more powerful cards all the while making the deck more post-rotation friendly, so I [...]
I might as well write about it.
I have been a Magic: The Gathering player since Ice Age was released in 1995. While I do not have a huge collection of cards, I’ve maintained enough cards and interest to be able to play competative decks in local tournaments and to casually play with [...]
